Never miss an insurance renewal date again

Covera puts the renewal date of every policy on one timeline, sorted by what renews first, and reminds you 30 days before each renewal (the phone apps also 7 days before). That gives you time to compare or cancel before a policy silently renews for another year.

“I started Covera because I kept missing renewal dates. I also wanted better prices for my insurance, and to save money.”

— Nicki Price, founder of Covera

Covera policy list sorted by renewal date, showing an expired e-bike policy, travel insurance renewing in 19 days and car insurance renewing in 38 days

Why do insurance renewal dates matter?

Most home, car and liability policies renew automatically. In Belgium a policy runs for at most one year and then renews tacitly for another year, unless you object in time (Insurance Act 2014, art. 85). Miss the date and you may pay another year for cover you wanted to change.

How do Covera’s renewal reminders work?

Every policy you add has a renewal date. Covera shows them on one timeline, counts how many renew in the next 90 days and flags expired policies.

  • Web app: turn on reminders in Settings and your browser shows a notification for renewals within 30 days, at most once a day.
  • iPhone and Android apps (being prepared): scheduled notifications 30 days and 7 days before each renewal.
  • Your own calendar: export all renewal dates as an .ics file, with an alert 30 days before each date, for Google, Apple or Outlook Calendar.

How long before the renewal date do I need to cancel?

It depends on the country and the contract. In Belgium you must object at least 2 months before the expiry date for contracts concluded or renewed since 1 October 2024, and 3 months for older ones. In the Netherlands, the Civil Code sets 2 months before the end of a period.

Can I cancel insurance at any time after the first year?

Often, yes. In Belgium consumers can cancel most non-life policies at no cost once the contract has run for one year; the cancellation takes effect after 2 months. In the Netherlands, members of the Dutch Association of Insurers let you cancel any time after 12 months with at most one month’s notice.

How do I add my renewal dates?

Add a policy from a PDF, photo or screenshot. Covera reads text PDFs on your device and fills in the renewal date, insurer, policy number and premium for you to check. You can also type the details in by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Does Covera cancel or renew policies for me?

No. Covera is not an insurer or broker and never contacts your insurer. It shows the dates and reminds you; you decide and cancel with your insurer yourself.

Will I still get reminders if I close the browser?

Browser notifications appear when you open Covera in your browser. For reminders that arrive even when Covera is closed, export the dates to your calendar (.ics) or use the phone app once it is available.
